In order to develop new versions of the ArisCAT information system and develop its functionality, while respecting the ongoing development of third-party software products, it is necessary to provide minimum parameters for the used hardware and software environment for the trouble-free operation of the ArisCAT IS system.

These configurations are basic recommendations for installing, running Microsoft SQL and are IS ArisCAT products. Requirements are listed only for the operating system. The MSSQL database server and IS ArisCAT. It does not take into account other applications and services running on the station or server (except MS Office), which further increase HW requirements. Also, no account is taken of the size of the database or IS ArisCAT databases - here it is necessary to assess the claims separately and HW options possibly modified.

Recommended minimum versions of MS SQL and Windows

Recommended server environment: Windows Server 2016 and later.
Recommended SQL Server: MSSQL 2015 SP2, MSSQL 2016 SP1 and later
Recommended environment for client station or mono installation: Windows 8, Windows 10 and later.

Bit version of Windows and MSSQL

In all cases, we recommend a 64-bit architecture that allows full use of all hardware capabilities of physical or virtual machines.

Graphic resolution

The minimum graphic resolution is 1024 x 768, 16 bits.

Terminal traffic - recommended line throughput

The communication line is with ping response <100ms, without packet loss during operation.

We recommend using a fixed line or wireless link in the licensed frequency band. When using an asymmetric or aggregate line (e.g., ADSL), we recommend testing the line speed and stability before deploying.

Virtualization of HW resources

Technologically, APV HELIOS and MS SQL can also be run in different virtualization environments. Previous experience with virtualization is satisfactory on systems:

Other HW recommendations

When designing a configuration, it is recommended to follow the following rules.

HW selection

We recommend the use of branded hardware with the option of purchasing an extended warranty - repair right at the customer, the possibility of guaranteeing the start of work on removal of HW defects or the guarantee of elimination of HW defects.

RAM size

For the operation of MS SQL Server, the recommended 1: 1 RAM is recommended for the   
size of the running database (or the sum of active databases).

Ratio 2: 1 is recommended to the largest table processed on MS SQL Server.

Enough RAM for MS SQL Server has a major impact on IS ArisCAT response.

Disk Configuration

It is recommended to use a RAID 10 or RAID 1 disk array to store databases.

The RAID 5 field type is not recommended for SQL databases.

Drive disk / disk array speed and disk controller quality have a major impact on IS ArisCAT response.

Mobile application

The ArisCAT IS also includes the ArisCAT Market cloud service and mobile applications.
